Drop-in. Everyone welcome
We meet every Friday in the warm and comfortable New Room at Oakwood Church from 19.30 until 21.30 – except when we break for Easter, August, Christmas and New Year school holidays.
You don’t have to come every week. Drop in when you can, or whenever the muse is upon you.
Everyone is welcome. For many years The Art and Craft Group at Oakwood Church has been enjoyed by local people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, from complete beginners and accompanied children to established local Artists. We explore our own ideas, in our own medium, in our own way, at our own pace, and share our knowledge, experience and inspiration with each other.
There are no boundaries, no lessons, no homework, no expectations and no pressures – which make it a kind, sociable and truly relaxing way to start the weekend. Simply enjoy being creative.
Some people work in watercolours, others in oil paints, acrylic paints, pastels, pen and ink, pencil, collage, enjoy graphic design on computer, modelling clay, card, felt, fabrics, etc. There are no limits on your imagination and creativity.
Bring your own materials – a pencil and paper are one of many inexpensive starting points. Some of us have time to develop their projects between meetings but others, like me, can only make time to be creative by setting aside Friday evenings.
We invite adults to donate £3 per drop-in session towards room rent, but we don’t want anyone to exclude themselves so please, only donate what you can afford. Accompanied children are free. Refreshments are also provided free of charge by those of us who volunteer to put our names on a rota.
